Terms and Conditions

Last updated: May 2026

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using Make PDF. By creating an account or accessing the Service in any way, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By registering for or using Make PDF ("the Service"), you confirm that you are at least 18 years old, have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement, and accept these Terms and Conditions in full. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.

2. Description of Service

Make PDF provides a cloud-based API platform for PDF generation, template rendering, and document automation. The Service is offered under various plans — including a free tier — each with defined usage limits, features, and support levels. We reserve the right to modify, expand, or discontinue any feature of the Service at any time with reasonable notice where practicable.

3. Account Responsibilities

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and API keys. You must not share, transfer, or sell access to your account. You are solely responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, whether or not authorised by you. You agree to notify us immediately if you suspect any unauthorised access or security breach.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not use the Service to generate content that infringes third-party intellectual property rights, contains malicious code, or facilitates fraud, spam, or abuse. You must not attempt to circumvent rate limits, access controls, or billing mechanisms. We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate any account that violates this policy, without prior notice where the violation is severe.

5. Free Plan — Usage Limits and Suspension

The free plan is provided at no charge and is subject to usage limits that we set at our sole discretion. We reserve the right to modify, reduce, or remove free plan limits at any time without prior notice. If your usage exceeds the permitted thresholds — whether measured by API calls, rendered pages, storage, or any other metric — we may, without liability:

  • throttle or rate-limit your requests;
  • temporarily suspend access to the Service until the next billing cycle or until you upgrade to a paid plan; or
  • permanently disable the free account if over-usage is persistent, abusive, or places undue burden on platform infrastructure.

We will endeavour to notify you by email before taking suspension action, but are not obligated to do so when over-usage is severe or abusive. Upgrading to a paid plan will restore full access subject to the limits of that plan.

6. Intellectual Property

You retain full ownership of the content, data, and templates you create or upload using the Service. You grant Make PDF a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, process, and transmit that content solely to the extent necessary to provide the Service to you. We do not claim any ownership rights over your content.

7. Billing and Subscriptions

Paid plans are billed on a recurring monthly or annual basis, depending on the plan you select. All fees are due in advance and are non-refundable except as required by applicable law or as expressly stated in our refund policy. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period and you will retain access until that date. We reserve the right to update pricing with at least 30 days' written notice. Continued use of the Service after a price change takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the new pricing.

8. Service Availability

We aim to provide a reliable and highly available Service but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service is provided without any uptime warranty or SLA unless expressly stated in a separate written agreement. We may perform scheduled or emergency maintenance at any time and will use reasonable efforts to minimise disruption. We are not liable for losses caused by downtime or service interruptions.

9. Termination

Either party may terminate these Terms at any time. You may terminate by deleting your account and ceasing to use the Service. We may terminate or suspend your access immediately, without notice, if you breach these Terms or if we are required to do so by law. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately and we may delete your data in accordance with our data retention policy.

10. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Make PDF's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim or (b) USD 100. In no event shall Make PDF be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

11. Privacy, Data Processing, and GDPR

We collect and store only the personal data necessary to operate your account: your name, email address, and billing details. This data is processed solely to provide the Service, manage your subscription, communicate with you, and comply with our legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

Document data: By default, Make PDF does not store the content, templates, or documents you submit for rendering. Each API request is processed in-memory and the resulting output is returned to you immediately. No document data is persisted on our servers unless you explicitly enable a storage feature or opt in to a data-retention capability within your account settings.

GDPR: If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or equivalent legislation, including the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • request erasure of your personal data ("right to be forgotten");
  • object to or restrict certain processing activities;
  • request portability of your data in a machine-readable format; and
  • lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Our legal basis for processing account and usage data is the performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). Where we process data for service improvement or communications, we rely on legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) or, where required, your consent. To exercise any of your rights or for any data-related enquiry, please contact us via the Contact page.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Where changes are material, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice within the Service at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of those changes. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the Service and may delete your account.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in the jurisdiction in which Make PDF operates, unless otherwise required by local mandatory law.

14. Contact
